MUSINGS

mind games
black skirts flippantly moving against the breeze
copper hued houses in the background
a man grinning to himself-
images that get etched in the mind bright in the beginning,
then sepia toned and then all at once- the image is lost forever-
replacing with the next image.
We swam in the sea
We swam in the sea watching the waves spread,
I remember being hungry and sad.
The pohutukawa tree drenched in red,
stood in the sunshine while you sang out your thoughts
that you wished for that day-
goodness,joy,happiness,peace, no war.
I watched the train of roses and remembered the war,
and went back to swim again.
